I am a musician and a fairly savy pc guy; although new to Vista. I have a need to play midi files on my vista 64 system to my usb midi keyboard. I could do this in Win XP by using the midi mapper to change the output to the midi instrument. I've been looking and it looks as though Microsoft decided to leave out this useful tool in Vista.

Jan 30, 2009 · hi all, i bought a cheap usb midi cable from ebay and (like everyone else) while it works fine in XP i've headaches getting it going in vista. when i plug it in (after uninstalling drivers) it looks for drivers and then comes up with a "failed" status. in device manager it is called VIEWCON.. and has the message "the device cannot start (code 10)".
