Activate USB support in VirtualBox Manager Shut down your virtual machine and open USB settings in the VirtualBox Manager. Tick Enable USB Controller and USB 2.0 (EHCI) Controller or USB 3.0 (xHCI) Controller. If these settings are greyed out, you need to shut down the virtual machine.

Of course you think that this bug is the most important one but the priority is defined by the VirtualBox development team, mainly driven by customer demands. I agree that this is a nasty bug but the current workaround is to use only one guest CPU if you need to setup a VM with USB support.

USB is a very complex interface and there are always devices which will not properly work in VirtualBox guests. If you can, please don't pass that USB device into the guest but let it drive by the host and use the normal VirtualBox networking functions to access the network over the USB network card.
