The GAs seem to be installed, and the host does indeed support OpenGL 3.0. I would expect VirtualBox OpenGL 2.1 to now be available, if you installed the GAs properly. Note that installing in safe mode is not prescribed for Win10 guests, that was only for XP.

The default installation of VMWare does not install OpenGL 3.3 support. To add that support, you need to click on "Player" in the upper left corner of the virtual machine, then "Manage," and then "Install VMWare Tools." Once VMWare Tools was installed, Luminar 2018 stopped complaining about the lack of OpenGL 3.3 support and ran successfully.

Try VirtualBox and prepend MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.0 MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=130 to your linux command line. Some of the opengl3 functions may work. Though not all of them will. I used that to bring up Civ5, the animation did not show up, nor did the on-screen fonts.

I'm in a Computer Science course that has assignments to be done in C/C++ using OpenGL 3.2 and GLSL 1.5.0. There was a pre-made assignment which compiled and ran fine on the CS department's Ubuntu machines, which were recommended to be used for these assignments since the libraries were all set up and OpenGL is somewhat difficult to install on Windows.

Sep 06, 2017 · Parallels can’t run SU 2017 because Parallels does not support OpenGL 3.0 as yet, only 2.1. This is a Parallels issue, not a specific targeting by SU. So, there are no known exclusions of specific VMs as such, just enforcement of the need for OpenGL 3.0.

Oct 01, 2017 · I am running 12.5.7 and this version does not support (100%) v3.3. The formal version (when querying OpenGL) is v3.0. I have attempted to get an answer as I am developing and need OpenGL v3.3 or greater. The best I have got is that there is some support for v3.3 and the application needs to test if a particular function is available.

Jun 21, 2009 · Anyway, VirtualBox 3.0 starts to support OpenGL 2.0 applications and it’s cool. When the low frame rate problem will be solved, that will allows to code OpenGL applications for a particular host (in my case Windows XP) and execute them on other hosts (Linux for example) thank to VirtualBox.

The OpenGL drivers in the VirtualBox Guest Additions are limited to OpenGL 2.1. Despite many requests for improved OpenGL capability in the VBox user forums I've seen no mention of the VBox developers working on OpenGL 3 or better support. That said it only had OpenGL 2.0 support around 2009 and has been quietly upgrading to OpenGL 2.1 in the meantime.
