For data access true Unicode support is not available in VFP’s data engine, but requires that you use a SQL Backend like SQL Server that does support it. The only reliable way to communicate with Unicode data from a SQL Backend is through ADO whether you’re talking directly to ADO or you use a wrapper like the CursorAdapter or the wwAdoSql class provided here with this article.

Dec 02, 2014 · If we copy that character to excel and get the copied value from there to our vfp application, it considered as a unicode. if we get ASC() value for that character it returns 150. When we store that value in vfp table and see that via VFP grid, it displays a long dash. But in sharepoint server it is displaying as three question masks.

So, in VFP there’s new SYS() function – SYS(987,.T.) – that lets you enforce universal Unicode to Ansi mapping on query operations for Sql Passthrough, Remote Views and CursorAdapter calls. So how did I miss this for so long??? This is a huge improvement as it makes Unicode data at least reasonably approachable with FoxPro code.
