Dec 18, 2011 · a Van Norman #12 is 1800 pounds. It can be broken up into assemblies. The lightest assembly is the base/column, which is around 800 pounds. The base separates from the column, with difficulty. There are about 6 screws that go from the roof of the base/coolant area up into the column, and two indexing pins.

Feb 11, 2015 · I picked up a Van Norman No12 a year ago from an auction and had plans of painting it. It was beyond ugly when I brought it home. I cleaned it up and started removing the loose layers of paint. I had plans of painting but I had a need for the mill. I started using the Van Norman and have found the meaning of rigidity.
