Aug 03, 2014 · Another quick question - some guy wrote on some forum that he disabled the CPU C3/C6 support on his Sony VAIO laptop and that now his DAW and audio production works generally better. He claimed that disabling C3/C6 state eliminates latency problems. I have a Sony VAIO too and am wondering if there's any truth in this.

The support agent continues to respond to my initial email by directing me to download a BIOS update (R0180Y9) and I was advised to disable CPU C3/C6 support. However, I was provided with no link in the email to the BIOS update and my VIAO update is not detecting any updates - BIOS or otherwise.

Oct 19, 2010 · Use rm clock to get the cpu out of it's idle status (the whine, most of time occurs when the cpu is idle) with the cost of battery life. I also read that disabling the C3/C6 support in the BIOS solves the problem, i don't know what the consequences are when i disable this so i haven't tried this yet. As there is, to my knowledge, no fix available.
