Actually all the data is MPEG-2 - the 6416 DVR does not support MPEG-4 and since there is not sufficient deployment of the 7216 everything is done in the MPEG-2 format (at least for now). If a forum member gives an answer you like, give them the Kudos they deserve.

Once the firmware is downloaded, extract (unzip) the contents of the .zip file onto a USB flash drive. After the firmware is extracted, remove the USB flash drive from the computer and insert it into one of the available USB port on the DVR/NVR.
