Oct 14, 2012 · In particular, the Tumblr Markdown editor lacked support for Tab-based code indentation. It also does not support the triple backtick alterantive that is built into the github flavoured markdown. To indent multiple lines with tabs, it is possible to paste the code into a text editor, tab indent, and then paste back into Tumblr.

I'm also new to Markdown, and I'm having a problem that maybe someone can help me with. I've been writing content in Bear to post on Tumblr, which I thought should easily transfer over since both support Markdown. However, when I copied from Bear as Markdown and pasted into Tumblr's Markdown editor, all my line breaks fell apart.

Overall, Markdown support in Tumblr is pretty crappy, and tends to break far too often. I suspect that I will have more Markdown complaints than anything in Tumblr except the iPhone dashboard. {Note: this post was sent via email using Markdown to demonstrate some of the problems.

I was very happy when Tumblr announced Markdown support via email until I discovered that line breaks are not handled properly when posting to Tumblr via email using Markdown.. The official page for Markdown Syntax says. When you do want to insert a break tag using Markdown, you end a line with two or more spaces, then type return.
