Jun 05, 2015 · While there is no controller support, there is a mode where you can use your mouse cursor to move Geralt and it is very simple to get a hang of. You will still want to use your keyboard during gameplay since that is really the simplest way of switching your fighting style and magic type.

Oct 03, 2012 · I was a little bummed when I saw there was no controller support. I gave it a chance anyway and the keyboard/mouse controls work perfectly. Combat lends itself to the KB/mouse; it is not like combat in Witcher 2 & 3.

Jul 30, 2019 · The combat system, and the UI in general, would not be conducive to a controller regardless (while the second two games are basically built for a controller). Not only is there no controller support, I don't see HOW you'd play this game with a controller. That said, it's a fantastic game with a story that holds up today.

As seamless as the Witcher 2's controller support is, there are several useless buttons that can be programmed as hotkeys for magical powers. It makes it easier to play a mix of magic and swordplay.

Steam's big picture controller support causes conflict with witcher 3 native controller support, therefore if big picture's controller support (or any other 3rd party controller support) is active on your system, witcher 3 will have problems recognizing your controller.
