From apt-get or aptitude there's just termcap-compact, but I still see "no termcap library found" when trying to install my software (a development kit from another enterprise). This happens just on my computer. This page has a .tar.gz, but looks like it's the source, I …

I am trying to configure Asterisk 12.3.2 on Debian 6.0.9 but I am getting an error: "configure: error: *** termcap support no found (on modern systems, this typically means the ncurses development package is missing)". When I try to install it by: apt-get install libncurses5-dev I get the message that package cannot be found.

Nov 29, 2007 · So let's try to make Asterisk happy and give it termcap support. But there is NOTHING TO INSTALL to provide termcap support on Ubuntu - nothing from Ubuntu and nothing from GNU - because TERMCAP IS OBSOLETE. So this appears to be a BUG and the directions in the 2nd edition of the Asterisk book will FAIL FOR EVERYONE NOT USING CentOS (apparently.)

Also note that standard Debian kernel/linux source/image packages DO NOT track anything beyond the subminor version number (the Z in kernel x.y.z), so there is no specific package for, say, 2.6.8-2: only 2.6.8, which will get you whatever the latest revision of that version happens to be.

May 05, 2011 · In my previous post I installed Asterisk on Ubuntu Server 10.10. The newer Ubuntu Server 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) has just arrived, so I need to test the Asterisk on it. It is easy to install and use an Asterisk free soft PBX on Ubuntu box – if you do it frequently. I created a step…
