Jan 31, 2012 · The mkv file will play in other players like, VLC and DAPlayer. So, my question is, can mkv files be played directly through XBMC? If yes, what have I screwed-up with my rip settings in makeMKV or what settings do I use in XBMC? If not, is that what an external player is for and how do I set that up?

Dec 15, 2009 · my xbmc got replaced with plex on my mac cause xbmc could not handle mkv its just the x264 it does not like divx mkv works good and if you have a ac3/dts reciever that takes a load of the cpu as well so my xbox is back in my home theatre xbox 360 makes all my movies streamed over network look like garbage

EDIT Problem solved: I downgraded from a Kodi 18 to what ever the latest stable version is (17.6?). And it was able to play all the mkv files with no problem, I didn’t even have to do anything, I just clicked on the episodes and they worked. I guess that might be …
