A couple of things: any time Steam sends an IP address (e.g. when setting up networking for peer-to-peer games), have the capability to send an IPv4 address or an IPv6 address or both, and have all Steam servers have both an IPv4 address and an IPv6 address so that they can be reached via either protocol.

Jun 23, 2014 · b) you use IP addresses instead of domain names to connect to steam servers. The fix is obvious: a) add native support for IPv6 into steam and prefer IPv6 if found b) use DNS to resolve the names of steam servers or have IPv6 address that gets used when IPv6 is detected.
