Oct 08, 2012 · This is because this code point is undefined it, why SQL Server does not act on it. With a binary collation it works, since in a binary collations, character semantics means nothing. I guess that a future version of SQL Server will add collations that supports Unicode 6.0.

In SQL 2008, Microsoft added a full set of 100 collations which are based on Unicode 4.2, if memory serves. In any case, there is support for more characters and languages.
