Only thing is, my desktop client won't even show the AIFF files. I add them to my local Spotify files and nothing happens. This is consistent for all my AIFF music files. Spotify does apparently not support the format at all. I would like you to reconsider marking my idea as duplicate, since I see these two ideas as being very distinct.

A lot of people think that since wav / aiff files are bigger that it means they're better quality, which is a load of rubbish, the only difference with FLAC is that your processor needs to work a tiny bit harder when listening to FLAC files than aiff / wav, this is becuse the audio data is stored far more efficiently.

I just tested local playback with some M4A test files containing Apple's lossless format ALAC downloaded from Hyperion' home page which is a classical music label. These work fine in the Spotify desktop client v1.0.96.181 with Windows 10 Home which comes with an ALAC codec, as long as you do not alter their track name e.g. to make it easier recognizing the ALAC vs. the MP3 version.

Local Files: Support More Formats (AAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, APE, WMA) ... and music I've added on spotify all on shuffle. I can listen to my local music in Windows Media player or VLC or something, but I'd really like to listen to everything at once. Update: This idea has been reposted here.

Spotify has a leg up in terms of device support (Google Home) as well as tailored playlists (Daily Mix, Discover Weekly). Hopefully the rumor of an impending release of lossless music on Spotify will happen soon! Re: Hi-fi, lossless playback, FLAC offer
