Unfortunately, Splinter Cell PC does not provide support for Game Pads or Joysticks. If you wish to use a joystick or gamepad with Splinter Cell, you can only do so if your Joystick / Gamepad has software that allows you to assign keyboard strokes to movement and buttons.

I noticed that a lot of people are having issues trying to play the original Splinter Cell with a control pad. The problem is that when Splinter Cell was released, no one really used pads on PC. Times have changed, and thankfully developers are now adding pad support on their latest titles.

Steam support for steam controllers (and PS4 is now considered a "steam controller") is amazing but still rough around the edges for me. Pinnacle is dated looking and paid software but was the only way I could get Splinter Cell 1 and 2 working 99% perfectly on PC.

Download the SplinterCell3User.ini and move to & replace "…\Splinter Cell Chaos Theory\System\SplinterCell3User.ini" Use a compatible dinput device (I’ve only tried the DS4 controller) and use the in game settings to bind all the buttons as you see fit (yes, you can bind the touchpad and PS guide buttons too!).
