Jun 20, 2010 · I have a USB external hard drive that I use with my Windows 7 computer that I also want to use with my Macbook Pro. Can Snow Leopard read and write to my external hard drive if I format it with the exFAT file system?

Oct 01, 2010 · I just found something interesting: ExFAT support in Mac OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.4 (build 10F2090) Notice how the extension dates from July 17th, 2010, while Mac OS X v10.6.4 was released June 15th.

Jan 17, 2011 · Snow Leopard . Mac OS X support for exFAT is already present in version 10.6.4 (15 June 2010) but only in Mac models with a SDXC card reader. Latest Mac mini and iMac are compatible with exFAT. Linux . On Linux system, there is still no direct support for this file system.

We already knew for some time exFAT is coming to OS X. The first Macs to support SDXC came out in June and included specifically built exFAT in their OS X. Oct 02, 2010 · People confirmed to me that their 21,5-inch iMacs have exFAT support too, yet some don't. At this point I believe only very recently shipped iMacs support it.
