Support generation is a relatively complex topic, and there are several aspects which determine the optimal support, it is strongly recommended to set the threshold to zero and allow Slic3r to determine the support required. Small models, and those with small footprints, can sometimes break or detach from the bed.

Apr 24, 2013 · It seems that Slic3r wants to make a very solid raft top by printing top 2 interface layers close together, and an easy peel-able upper part by printing the extra middle layer and everything on top of it a little bit far away. ... Indeed support is just the same as a raft, it is just that it is elevated. ...

Raft Top Layers – The number of interface layers that are printed at the top of the raft.Your model will be printed on top of these layers, so you usually want at least 2-3 layers to ensure a smooth surface. To set support material in Slic3r, click on the "Support Material" tab under "Print Settings", then click the check box to enable it. Leave the "Overhang Threshold" to 0, as Slic3r is pretty good at detecting what areas need supports. Also leave the "Enforce Support for the First" to 0 layers. Therefore I have been printing my parts using a 6 layer raft. Now I am able to remove my parts completly hassle free. I have noticed that sometimes the raft does not come off of the part easily and leaves behind some hard to remove raft residue. Can someone recommend some Slic3r settings for rafts on an Original Prusa i3 MK2? Thanks!
