Skyrim uses 2 cores. The extra cores you see being used are backgound applications using them. I think there is something work with your system. There would be no way I could run skyrim (medium settings 30fps 1280x720) on a 1.5ghz quad core if it only uses 2 cores.

May 28, 2012 · The whole Quad core vs Dual Core debate. While Skyrim truely won't on the surface show much usage of more than 2 cores, it does still spread the load on most quad or even octal processors. So there is a benefit to going with a Quad core system.

Nov 02, 2016 · There is no section for launcher... nor did there seem to be anything pertaining to my graphics card in the file. I added [launcher] and so on though it still did not work. Thanks I'm still waiting on bethsda support to reply so hopefully they address everybodys resolution issues soon.
