Despite his claims, his solution does not support all existing overloads of DropDownListFor, since it doesn't support MultiSelectList or SelectList, oftenly used in models.

    May 17, 2012 · +1 for this feature. Except if I type in part or all of the optgroup name, I expect to see all entries in that optgroup to show up. Something that 'Chosen' doesn't do but I suppose this could just be implemented via the AJAX callback in select2.

I really need that feature so am leaning toward using chosen but would be happier to use select2 if that feature were there. The add-on feature suggested in this thread (where a label matches the children) seems like a great option to have too.
