I have a ruby gem and I want to use the Hash.from_xml method in the gem that is included in rails active_support module. I have the below code in my gemspec: gem.add_dependency 'active_support', '~> 3.0.0' However, when I build and install the gem locally, run irb, require the gem, I am not seeing the methods from active support included?

Dec 31, 2015 · @dmitriyborodko, thanks!I made sudo gem install -n /usr/local/bin cocoapods and installed 12 gems, and then made sudo gem install activesupport -v 4.2.6 with this message

Nov 17, 2016 · It's not a ruby-build problem, since you seem to already have a working Ruby version. However, if you installed Ruby with ruby-build, then I'm guessing you might manage your Ruby versions with rbenv. In that case, you should never use sudo to install gems, since that will install them in the wrong location. Instead, just do gem i rails.

Aug 03, 2016 · Do you know off-hand how ActiveSupport is being used? When possible, I prefer that gems keep their dependencies minimal, to avoid potential conflicts when including them.
