Dec 11, 2019 · Rsync does not support nfs4 ACL with inheritance, only simple Posix ACL (Linux) so you need a tool with support for ntfs alike nfs4 ACL. btw Behaviour of ZFS nfs4 ACL during a copy or create is controlled by the ZFS property aclinheritance.

Setting ACLs on ZFS Files. As implemented with ZFS, ACLs are composed of ACL entries. ZFS provides a pure ACL model, where all files have an ACL. Typically, the ACL is trivial in that it only represents the traditional UNIX owner/group/other entries.. If you change the permissions of the file, a file's ACL is updated accordingly.

I am using Solaris 9 and planning to go for a Linux OEL 6x now. I will be using rsync for the data movement from Solaris from to Linux server. I am really concerned about the ACL[ FACL- getfacl, setfacl] for files and users in my Solaris box- Does rsync preserve ACL properties by any chance.

Mar 23, 2011 · It will be good to have POSIX ACL support. As I see zfs already have xattr support and some other filesystems made ACL support over xattr. I'm do not know the internals, but this task may be simple to implement.

Jan 11, 2016 · @fips It seems that your /tmp mount doesn't accept posix acl. Is it just part of your root mount, or did you set a tmpfs on that?
