If you have a separate partition for /boot (e.g. a (readonly-mounted) ext2 partition at the beginning of your disk) and your root-filesystem is on a ReiserFS/Reiser4 partition, you only need to make sure that ReiserFS/Reiser4 support is enabled in your kernel - but that's true for every filesystem and has nothing to to with the bootloader.

Mar 02, 2006 · I just installed centOS 4.2, and discovered that it does not have reiserFS support. I downloaded the vanilla kernel src and compiled a new kernel, added some rows to grub.conf - But my new kernel doesn't boot.

Aug 03, 2006 · I was wondering if XFS/JFS/ReiserFS support was in the 4.3 boot kernel? I'm using kickstart to deploy a bunch of workstations and servers. All of these boxes need to have one partition with XFS/JFS/ReiserFS . Currently I use kickstart to install what I need, and after I go in and create a partition with a different file system.

The LFS support in the SuSE Linux kernel is the same as in the development kernel 2.4.0-test1 for the file systems which are in both kernels, glibc supports all the features of the kernel. The different filesystems are ReiserFS (so far only in SuSE, the 2.2 port doesn't support LFS) and NFSv3 (not available in SuSE 7.0).
