Dec 10, 2012 · For the first time ever, users are trying to add events to a public calendar in Outlook and are asking for reminders. It looks like items in the Public Folders in Outlook do not support reminders.

Aug 19, 2009 · Unlike earlier versions of Outlook, Outlook 2007 does support reminders in a non-default Tasks folder as long as it's in your default PST file or Exchange mailbox, or in a non-default PST file. About the only place you should see a message like that is in an Exchange public folders Tasks folder, where reminders are not supported.

Enabling reminder support for a pst-file is really easy though and can be done in a few clicks. Support for Reminders in archive files and additional pst-files is disabled by default but can easily be enabled.

That server-side code does not run constantly but only when new messages arrive or content otherwise changes.
