Oct 11, 2014 · Portal 2 has partial controller support, not full. I found out that it is impossible to complete Portal 2 with a controller. Literally. ... I've been using an xbox 360 controller and the only problem I've had with the propulsion gel was periodically going slightly out of a straight line and missing the mark. Being extra careful I got past it fine.

May 30, 2011 · And hell, it's Portal 2, you don't need quick movements and pixel accuracy. I beat the game with a 360 controller and it played wonderfully. So yeah, 360 controller is the best for gaming on a Mac, looks like most (all?) of Valve's games support the 360 controller natively, without 3rd party drivers, though those are available for other games.

The (somewhat) bad news is that, unlike the plug-and-play and wireless nature of the PS4 controller, the Xbox Controller requires some third-party drivers and configuration to work in OS X, and will only work while connected via a USB cable.Author: Jim Tanous

When I play Portal with my XBox 360 controller connected and on, it automatically recognizes the gamepad and lets me use it to move around with the left and right analog sticks. However, no other controls work on the gamepad, only the mouse and keyboard. Jumping, shooting portals and picking up items only works with the mouse/keyboard.
