May 09, 2018 · Pistons that utilize pin buttons have a built-in groove that provides support for the oil ring where the high pin bore passes through the oil ring groove. A support rail is not required in this application because the pin button fills the gap. Oil rail supports are the choice for the majority of pistons.

Page 2 of 5 < Prev 1 2 3 ... and the 6" rod piston needs a 9 gram oil support rail that the 5.7 rod piston doesn't. Add in the 20 or so grams that the longer rod weighs and the bobweight (and crank balance) will be very close.
