Apr 22, 2005 · HLMencken do yourself a favor and buy a BENQ 1620 drive that has bitsetting out of the box, no hacked firmware is needed. BENQ supports their drive with newer firmware that is released quite often compared to NEC drives. The only hack that is used for the BENQ 1620 is the speed read firmware.

Jan 10, 2007 · scussy, I'm not all the famliar with the Asus line of burners, but if what your saying is that Asus is a rebaged Pioneer drive then your in the same boat again as Pioneer drives do not support bitsetting which is why you won't find a setting for it in Imgburn.

Jul 11, 2006 · I have a Pioneer DVD-RW DVD-108, firmware version 1.20. Actually looking at it now, I can see it says it only reads and writes DVD+r DL, and not DVD-r DL. I guess that narrows it down then, unless there is a way I can upgrade the firmware to enable dvd-r? Will my drive be able to perform bitsetting on dvd+r dual layer discs?

Aug 19, 2010 · Conversely, some of the very best writers in write quality do not support forced bitsetting at all whatsoever (well, actually, the Pioneer burners automatically bitset DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM whether you want it or not, but do not bitset single-layer DVD+R media with their stock firmware).

Mar 08, 2004 · I've narrowed my search down to the following drives I think. 1. Lite-On 851S 2. Pioneer DVR-107 3. NEC 2500A I have read through the forums, and read the good and bad about each drive. My concern is this, I have an older set-top DVD player, and I would like the drive that I get to support Bitsetting for compatability reasons.

Jul 24, 2008 · Pioneer does not support bitsetting, hence the greyed areas when trying to use Nero's CD/DVDSpeed etc. The afore mentioned MCSE patching should give you full bitsetting. Pioneer for some time have made their drives support DVD-ROM for DL media only. This patching can/will make the drive support all + media to DVD-ROM.
