A good support really needs 2 things, good peel and a good engage/disengage. Orianna can't really peel for her marksman, and her engage is not the same without the damage, this considering you have support items -crucible and the like- means you don't really bring enough to the table to make it a pick. All of this is my advice for solo queue.

Jan 08, 2012 · She is tottaly viable. Really nice damage, nice utility, her attack animation is excelent for those lasthits. I bough her when she was released, really enjoyed her. 2 or 3 weeks ago, I picked her again (after the nerfs) and I don't feel any difference.

Jun 25, 2011 · support orianna isnt viable imo (and I haven't seen anyone playing her that way in ranked matches) because her cc is kinda bad compared to eg janna. her shield needs ap to be really strong, her slow is kinda hard to hit in some cases. support orianna would simply be like a very bad janna (despite her dmg on the first few levels maybe)

Makeing her viable as support does not mean she cant be played as AP carry, it just creates the option to play her as support, which i think would be good (we have few viable supports atm), and she is really fun.

Orianna has the absolute best defensive shield amongst enchanters; it grants 30% effective HP just by being latched onto a target, is on a shorter cooldown than other enchanter shields, and has massive range. The reason people fail with Ori Support is they try to go AP. This is a mistake. There are a wealth of better AP Mage Supports.

You can try her out for fun but I don't think she's really viable as a support. The only thing that would make her a possible support is that she has some sort of CC, but if that was all it took to be a strong support than practically any champion could be one; Cho, Elise, Xayah, Ashe etc.

Like as in Nautilus support just gained a huge spike in popularity as in s4, he wasn't even considered a support. Morganna was made to be a mid-laner, but now she's mostly support.

Orianna Support is actually decent, pretty viable, there was a Support Orianna guide by a Master tier support somewhere. Either ways, I used to love playing non-traditional support picks and Orianna used to be one of my favorite, and this usually how I play her.

Nov 08, 2011 · To judge a champ's support viability, think about what the champion brings with few/no items and ask yourself if that's still a solid contribution. You'd be surprised at how many champs show up as being at least viable supports, even if they're not the best at it due to needing a little farm here and there.
