In the latest versions the option to save, convert or encode as UTF-8 without BOM is not more available. Is it a bug or we can have any option to enable this feature again? Also in the preferences, the new document option to encode new files or opened files as UTF-8 without BOM is not present.

Jul 01, 2013 · The standard Windows Notepad *usually* displays UTF-8 files without a BOM correctly, but it also gets confused, especially with files that have many ANSI characters and a few UTF-8 characters. I think that the recommendation against the BOM is a *huge* mistake, because every valid UTF-8 sequence is also a valid ANSI sequence.

Dec 15, 2008 · Hi Paul, with Notepad I can open the file and read it correctly like it is supposed to be as long as I chose UTF-8 as the encoding option within the notepads open window. I have uploaded to our server the cfm file and the HTML files to a .zip file along with a screen shoot of the browser with both pages open if you want to take a look at them.
