To solve this problem, run the automatic update tool that came with Norton 360. this program was uninstalled from the computer and mcafee was installed. Norton was causing issues with other programs and mcafee is not. Also, its subscription ended and we get mcafee free from our provider.

The sound is still there. The NRnR window is popping up, of course, with the system restore. (I used NRnR 7/16) I opened Task Scheduler. Clicked "Task Scheduler Library". On the right there is no entry for Norton Remove and Reinstall. If I click the arrow next to "Task Scheduler Library", there is a folder "Norton Remove and Reinstall".
