my benchmark: avg. troughput is 160MB/s. Seek time is not too great - but these are archive drives after all. my expierence: despite good cooling, the drives tend to fail when heavily accessed (Read / Write more than 1TB/day).

The ATA PASS-THROUGH(16) command on the other hand has an EXTEND bit. * when looking at the same standards a bit later, with CK_COND set and no error, the ATA command result is supposed to include the ATA Status Return Descriptor.
