Sure enough, it does not display the message, "MPlayer was compiled without libdvdread support". I installed MPlayer @1.1_8 following instructions in howto/InstallingOlderPort . The revision number was incremented to 9 at r139469 .

Aug 02, 2014 · Anyways, for being able to navigate DVD menus you must compile mplayer with support for dvdnav. I don't know if that is the case for Slackware's MPlayer, if you have support for that you can use the arrow-keys on your keypad for navigating the menus.
