Feb 20, 2016 · Ubuntu has disabled support for PHP in their mapserver package because they have switched to PHP 7 for the xenial LTS release. Debian will also switch to PHP 7 for the stretch release, hence PHP mapscript will be disabled as long as it doesn't support PHP 7.
