Nov 16, 2012 · If anyone can recommend a fast (audio & video editing in mind) 512GB SSD for my 2012 MacBook Pro (the non-Retina, first released 2012 13” model – still with the optical drive & upgradable RAM, etc.) I would be greatly appreciative; and as to SATA II or SATA III, that would be an added bonus. Many thanks for your time & kind regards, Simon

Jan 08, 2012 · Hi - I've been getting some conflicting information on this, so am going to take a poll - does the currently shipping 15" Macbook Pro support SATA III @ 6Gb/s in Optibay or only @ 3Gb/s? I know units shipped early in 2011 only supported SATA III SSDs at 3Gb/s, but some are saying later shipping models support SATA III drives @ 6Gb/s.

The opposite is the case with both 15″ and 17″ 2011 MacBook Pro Models. Both SATA 3.0 6Gb/s hard drives and SSDs encounter problems when attempted in the optical bay when the optical bay presents a 6Gb/s link capability. It is the exception to see consistently reliable 6Gb/s operation in …
