I figured out that I had this webcam from the terminal display: ID 046d:0808 Logitech, Inc. Webcam C600 I then installed Cheese. I can now view the output of the camera on my screen when I open cheese.

USB OV511 Camera support. This driver supports a certain chipset made by OmniVision, and used in a range of USB cameras (notably the Creative WebCam III).
