Sep 02, 2011 · Hello, I did some testing, and it looks like there isn't a way to make a raw ipv6 address work with the jtds connection string. However, if you use a hostname that resolves to an IPv6 address, everything appears to work fine. Unfortunatly, many of the users of my tool do not have reliable DNS, and it would be nice to provide them with a way to use my tool with raw IPv6 addresses.

Both the MS driver and the jTDS driver connect to SQL Server using TCP/IP (note that the jTDS driver does have some support for named pipe communication). Because of this, the TCP/IP protocol needs to be enabled on the MS SQL Server database in order for either driver to make a connection.
