In the scope of deploying small Java EE web applications at various client sites, I am searching for an easy application server solution. I think I remember hearing that it was possible to use Jetty as a JavaEE 6 lightweight application server but I can't seem to find more evidence on this right now on the web.

The class doesn’t seem to exist in any of the jars supplied with the demo, so the ClassNotFoundException seems reasonable enough. However, I haven’t had time to investigate why it does not occur when the jars are in Jetty’s lib directory.

Jan 27, 2009 · I think there are reasonable arguments to support servlet servers like Tomcat or Jetty. There many people outside writing simple webapps on top of Tomcat and co with frameworks like seam or spring. They does not need the whole range the spec does provide since they mostly do not base on EJB or other EE Resources.
