Aug 09, 2016 · This fixed it for me ( I have iphone 5s, but had the same problem with 4s) = settings-mail-contacts-calendars-time zone support- "off" settings-general-date&time-set auotmatically-on ( and time zone set as appropriate). After turning the time zone support "off" , my calendar was correct.

Jan 08, 2013 · Previously if you wanted to over-ride the iPhone’s default time zone for a new event (always the one you were in currently) it took a second, as there was a scroll-down menu of time zones in the calendar itself. Now it seems you can still do this, but you have to dig through about 5 menus in settings.

The time in which you are viewing events can be set in the time-zone support preference. Events created whilst time-zone support is off default to the native time-zone of the calendar which was set when it was created and turning time-zone support off lets the iPhone automatically shift the times of appointments to the local time.
