Sep 28, 2009 · That feature was added with the TV Pack 2008 for Windows Vista (an OEM-only option), and was carried forward into Windows 7. The only way to get Clear-QAM support in your version of Windows is if the tuner manufacturer has made a tool to make Media Center think that the QAM tuner is an ATSC (over-the-air digital) tuner.

Nov 05, 2008 · It was told that with this card I can get "Unscrambled Clear QAM Digital TV / HDTV", but it says in small fine print in a footnote that it has "Clear QAM is supported in Windows Vista using ATI Catalyst Media Center". I have checked on many postings that this "note" is actually true. And I dont have Windows Vista.

The only way left to watch unencrypted channels from a cable source would be to purchase a Digital Cable Ready PC with one or more Digital Cable Tuners.

Vista Media Center does not currently support clear QAM digital cable TV. The WinTV-HVR-1800 can be made to work within the Windows XP Media Center application provided you have the latest updates (roll-up 2) for MCE installed.

The remote doesn't register button presses every time, which drives me a little insane. Don't even bother installing the AverMedia center software. The clear QAM information has to be manually entered into Windows 7 Media Center and it doesn't pick up all of the QAM signals my TV does. I think this is more W7MC than the AverMedia tuner, though.4/4(183)
