In searching for solutions online, everything tells me to use the auto-number field. Given the people who will be using and possibly modifying the database in the future, that is probably not the wisest idea.

Hi. I have an 'ID' column for my database (MySQL) which is set to auto_increment. Everytime I add a row, the 'id' auto_increments. How do I get the auto_incremented 'ID' value ? I doubt if I get the most recently added row would work because what happen if there maybe a chance someone did an insert after you very quickly ?

Hello, Table set up is OK. However be aware collate sequence can only be set when table is created. There is no default. There is an outstanding bug report concerning this - #124054 of which I don't seem to agree with. See answers in this post regarding subject -> Sorting in Base with german Umlaute.
