Yes Craig, Backup Exec Service Pack 2 officially support Windows Server 2012; not as a Media Server. It supports it with RAWS installed on it. Backup Exec 2012 Service Pack 2 will still need to be installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 or which ever Operating System(for Media Server) is mentioned in the Software Compatibility List.

The only option available is to upgrade Backup Exec (media server along with the remote agents) to a newer version which will support Win 2012 R2. However, do keep in mind that the latest versions of BE do not support Win 2003 as a media server.

Aug 09, 2013 · I have written off Acronis and now using Trial version of Symantec Backup Exec 2012 on a temporary server (Windows Server 2008 R2) to get some offsite backups working, the remote agent works okay on the older servers, server 2003 etc, but has compatibility issues when installed on Server 2012.
