I would really like to do a part time college course. I think I remember the job centre telling me I could get free college courses while on income support, but that was a while ago now, & I have tried to find out from them & just keep getting put on hold & passed round to different people who don't know!

You probably only get income support because you get carers allowance. If you are doing a course of 21 hours a week of more you can't claim carers allowance so you will probably find your income...

Oct 19, 2013 · You'd get support, but also you'd not have to pay for the fees and could likely apply for a student grant if you're on low income or no income if ESA stops. It's better to be in education than on ESA I'd have thought at least you're doing something positive and when you're low they will help.
