To setup a NFS share that contains the Installation CD, use the loop device to mount the ISO image and then copy the contents of the CD into the NFS share. As a nice extra, genkernel's initrd scripts will extract all tar.gz files located in the /nfs/livecd/add/ directory.

Jan 20, 2004 · Some have had problems with building with genkernel. Before building make sure the following are available in your current kernel. In mine I had loopback as a module and ram disk compiled in. Im thinking it might need loopback and ramdisk support to build the new kernel and initrd. <M> Loopback device support <*> RAM disk support

Created attachment 434238 [details, diff] This adds a loop of up to 3 seconds to wait for the device I see a wait for CD in linuxrc code, but no wait for disk root. One of the comments is right. If this were a big system with lots of disks, the delay could be long finding the disk. I think there should be a loop, with a time limit set by genkernel.
