Sep 12, 2006 · I thought oblivion was, but maybe only on Xbox 360. I think it is "optimised" for multi-core rather than specifically taking advantage of. I don't think dual-core CPUs will ever be faster than a single core as far as raw rendering power, but other tasks like AI and physics etc will be improved with multi-core CPUs and multi-threaded apps.

Its also been proven that a dual core clocked slightly higher than a quad core gives better performance on Supreme Commander.

Because separate programs will run on their own core so even if the game only uses 2, other programs can use the others and will steal less performance from the cores running the game. That being said though, right now benchmarks show a fast dual core outperforming a lower clocked quad core in almost every game.
