Dec 02, 2013 · I read a topic about DDS mipmap support for Freeimage in an old topic some 7 years ago stating there was no way to get the mipmaps of a DDS texture at the time. I am wondering if this has changed now 7 years later, or is there an easy extension/plugin to Freeimage that does this? I have no experience working with the DDS format myself.

Aug 08, 2015 · Investigating FreeImage further, it completely lacks support for anything beyond a single face in a DDS file. I started implementing DDS import, which the standard TextureImporter will use instead of FreeImage when presented with a DDS file. It is similar to @nkast 's importer, but will support more DDS features.

Does FreeImage support this and if so then what command replaces GetBits to get each side of the cube? Also is there a command to get whether the file is 2d, 3d or a cube map?

Oct 19, 2006 · FreeImage is inflexible. You can't configure it to support just the image formats you need, you have to take all the 23 formats or die (or start hacking). FreeImage carries with it a modified copy of libjpeg, libtiff, libpng. It also carries with it a copy of zlib and libmng.
