Hi, I've bought an OCZ Vertex2 E (120 GB SSD) and installed FreeBSD i386 stable/8 on it, using UFS (UFS2, to be exact). I've made sure that the partitions are aligned properly, and used newfs with 4k fragsize and 32k blocksize. It works very well so far. Now, the only thing missing would be TRIM support for UFS.

Aug 21, 2019 · The installer doesn't support UFS + gjournal out of the box. How could I install FreeBSD on UFS + gjournal from the beginning? Most tutorials have the system already installed and modified it to use gjournal. It also only journal a certain file system like /usr. I want to journal a big / from the beginning. How could I do it?

If USB blocks the TRIM service > the behavior of the device doesn't matter. This is kind of off-topic in this thread about UFS, but if you investigate TRIM on USB enclosures: Some of them advertise TRIM support, for example Startech SM21BMU31C3 (based on Asmedia ASM1351 USB 3.1 Gen 2 chipset), but that is not the whole story.
