Mar 24, 2011 · Support for multi-threading will improve FFmpeg's overall performance on systems with CPUs with multiple cores or multi-threading. It is expected to be generally available in version 0.7 of FFmpeg. The actual merge of the code caused problems with the git repository's history and after a vote , the developers have undone the initial merge and are working on a cleaner way to merge the code.
