As such enabling ReiserFS support on RHEL/CentOS/SL 6.2 consists of adding the ELRepo repository, installing the kernel module for ReiserFS and the reiserfs-utils package which provide tools for creating and repairing ReiserFS filesystems.

Aug 03, 2006 · I was wondering if XFS/JFS/ReiserFS support was in the 4.3 boot kernel? I'm using kickstart to deploy a bunch of workstations and servers. All of these boxes need to have one partition with XFS/JFS/ReiserFS . Currently I use kickstart to install what I need, and after I go in and create a partition with a different file system.

A: Yes, you actually can install Fedora on ReiserFS or JFS. Note that neither of these filesystems are supported by the Fedora Project. (That means that you can use them, but you won't find any official help from the Fedora Project if things go wrong.) At the installer prompt, type either linux reiserfs or linux jfs.

Sep 22, 2006 · I'm not sure if reiserfs filesystem support is enabled in FC5 kernel or not...but you can try this # mount -t reiserfs /dev/sdaX /home -v run this as root and see what the output is. If its okay, u'll get okay message ....otherwise I'm afraid that u may need to recompile a stock kernel [from kernel.org] with reiserfs support built-in.

(11 replies) RedHat has stripped out support for ReiserFS in their enterprise Linux products. It appears the unsupported CentOS kernel supports ReiserFS. Doesn't anaconda and the kickstart boot kernel also need to be enhanced to support ReiserFS as well? thanks for any help.
