Dec 11, 2006 · Howdy. I've been trying to install Fedora Core 6 on a brand new Optiplex 320 (BIOS 1.0.9) and Fedora can't find the hard disk. It appears related to the ATI SB600 SATA controller.

Sep 09, 2010 · It might work on 2.6.18-x but I don't believe I even tried - my sequence of install on this board was to run the Centos 5.5 installer to a single drive attached to the ICH10 controller then upgrade to my usual kernel then migrate all the rest of my hardware over (and utilise the sata 6g ports).

I installed SuSE Linux 9.2 + kernel 2.6.11 on a Dell Dimension 8400 with SATA disks. It worked. I installed Suse 9.2, but likely that one can do the same with debian, knoppix, redhat or fedora.
