I just tried installing ESXi 6.0 on an iMac 10,1 and the ESXi installer was not able to see the internal disk on the iMac. Next I tried formatting the drive FAT 32 (I don’t recall having to do this when I installed ESXi 5.5 Update 2 on my Mac Mini Server 6,2 ), and the installer still did not see the iMac’s internal drive.

I know several of you have reached out asking about the support for ESXi 6.5 on the Apple Mac Pro 6,1 but as of right now, the Mac Pro 6,1 is currently not supported with ESXi 6.5. I know this is not ideal especially for customers who wish to take advantage of the latest vSphere release.

Dec 24, 2019 · welcome to the macrumors forums, william! in fact, the NICs in the 2019 Mac Pro are similar to the one in Mac mini 2018. according to the ifixit teardown Apple uses 2x aQuantia AQtion AQC107-B1-C multi-gigabit ethernet controllers. maybe Apple uses a newer revision of the controller. I'd expect that the latest AQC107 drivers from Aquantia will support the NICs of Mac Pro 2019...

Oct 30, 2018 · Admittedly conjecture, but I do believe the hard work by William Lam at virtuallyGhetto featuring Mac mini and Mac Pro along with the Thunderbolt Enabled VMware ESXi work by folks like Eric Garrison at ATTO Technology will make some level of support more of a possibility, formal or informal. Only time will tell for sure.

Oct 28, 2012 · Hi, I can confirm adding the boot option iovDisableIR=TRUE does do the trick. After adding and modifying the most recent tg3 drivers for the NIC I was able to get it up and running (have to add in the PCI device ID, looking at the drivers source code there is support for the specific revision it just isn't included on the PCI device mapping tables).
