If I continue the SQL Server setup and ignore the warning, I get a successful install of Setup Support Files, VSS WRiter, Backwards Compatability, but get failed warnings on all the of the SQL Express 2005 components. I'm once again stumped. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Jun 10, 2013 · I had exactly same issue. I found that "Windows Installer" service in (services.msc) was disabled. I went ahead and changed it to "Manual" Startup type and then reran the setups agains.This time setups ran successfully.
